The Material Study Series is rooted in my interest of the incorporation of found or recycled materials. The found objects are treated as any raw material and reinserted into the making process as such. This creates a disparity between the paired materials. By juxtaposing cigarette butts with gold and silver, I let the work stand as an investigation of the inherent value and preciousness of a given material.
