Reversed Alchemy Brooches: Intersection and Segment

Fabricated and pressed 18k (750) yellow and white gold

These pieces mock precious materials by turning gold into mud. The brooches transform what our society deems precious into a common element (mud) and the common [a tire] becomes more valuable. A direct reversal of the medieval quest for alchemical transmutation.

Looking down from traffic signs, down to the street, the tire tracks do not tell you what to do or where to go. They tell a story of where someone has been, perhaps where they are going, and maybe even about the person driving. These brooches capture a segment or intersection of a long path.
