A Sip of Life
Copper, faux gold leaf, patina
This cup represents the marginalized life of the Aztec town and the indigenous peoples of Mexico. The Aztecs have a legend that where they would find an eagle eating a snake in a cactus they would find the place to found the city of Mexico. But in my cup is a snake who is eating a heart- the heart of each member of this town, that was destroyed by time and the Conquistadors. But still there are wings left for the kids to fly.
