Born out of the process of making and highlighting recent events in my own life, "and so it begins" is a spontaneous recreation of life, death, necessity, cleansing, starting anew and the one element that seems a part of each—love. A cleansing
process itself, the making of this piece happened only with materials on hand;
a cleaning house of soul and studio; emotions and materials. 18k white gold and
diamond constellations of zodiac signs represent individuals reflected in a
niobium night sea, framed and linked with 22k, 18k, and 14k yellow golds.
Reflections as memory, these stars become permanent gestures, homage to the
energy that's focused on a life interrupted by illness and death, and the
renewal that begins as the clouds begin to clear.
