Flock
Origami folded cranes made of gold covered foil
This
piece is about fear and hope. The
origami crane is traditionally made as a symbol of peace and hope for the
future.
Whenever
economic and political events frighten people, investors buy gold. The fall of the dollar, raising gas
prices and the war in Iraq have driven people to seek security in the value of
gold.
These
cranes are folded from gold covered foil. Rather than a symbol of peace, they represent the anxiety and fear people have in today's world. People who are scared, yet hopeful that these times will pass and their
belief in gold will see them through.
