My work focuses primarily on the issues that many women face in their lives about female identity in the American culture. Women in America are confronted with social expectations. Society oftentimes dictates who we are or what we should be. Some of the issues that I have explored include body image, ideals of beauty, and roles. My ideas draw on my own experiences, opinions, and research and all of my work references the female in either form or imagery. Format, materials, and techniques are chosen to convey my concepts in the most effective, expressive, and communicative way. I am inspired by both historic and contemporary ideas and objects.
