Revisited

recycled Rhodes coin from 1st Century AD

with Dionysus on one face and Nike on another,

set in 22K hand-milled green gold

This is a table ornament commissioned by Chris Botti. I wanted to touch on something ancient and the re-use of materials from the very distant past. I looked at the coin and wondered how time resists the material. I also thought about Nike is now a brand. Making something for Chris Botti was a challenge because I could not create anything flashy or new - it had to have authenticity. From this creation I learned that all Gods are fleeting.
